Catch a ride on one of these historic train cars at the Ridgway Railroad Museum campus between 9 am and 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 3 pm Sunday. On Railroad Street across from the fire station. FREE!

See the True Grit jail wagon on the OCRHM grounds as well as Paramount’s extensive original test shots of True Grit- along with a special gallery showing for the weekend and other Western treasures inside the Ouray County Ranch History Museum. Hours:
Friday and Saturday, September 22 and 23, 11 am to 4 pm. Sunday, September 24, 12 noon - 4 pm. Non-profit, all volunteer Museum has nominal admission charge to take care of building. ocrhm.org

Stop by the Ridgway Visitors Center, located at 150 Racecourse Rd, just west of the stop light at the intersection of highways 550 and 62. The Visitors Center is open Wednesday through Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. Free.

Sign up for the John Wayne Grit Series race and join the John Wayne Cancer Foundation in the fight against cancer. The half marathon/5K is right here in Ridgway Saturday, September 21.
Mattie Ross/True Grit Homestead
Drive west past Dallas Divide. Turn south on the Last Dollar Road (watch for the brown sign) and continue 2.5 miles. The recently restored Mattie Ross/True Grit homestead is private property but grounds will be open only Sat, Sept 21, 8 am to 2 pm. Normally closed to public entry, you can see it from the road any time. Don’t miss the opportunity to see where John Wayne said “Come and see a fat old man sometime” and then jumped the fence. Free.
